Fifth graders are working on a new part of speech- ADVERBS! Students will be working on adverbs this week and a little bit next week. Students will also be celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday (March 2nd) on Friday by writing stories and watching Horton Hears a Who!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Next week, fifth grade will have spelling and sixth grade will have D.O.L. Fifth grade will start a new unit on adjectives which will also include a little bit of poetry. Sixth grade will edit their papers and will start to type. Papers will be due February 27th (tentatively) .

Assignment News

Good Morning! Fifth graders will be doing D.O.L. this week and sixth graders will be working on spelling words with "ible" endings. Both will have quizzes covering the D.O.L. and spelling materials on Friday.

The sixth graders are also starting a new unit on research, note taking, and writing research papers. I have suggested that they purchase note cards for their research paper's notes, however; there will be other alternatives available if they do not get note cards.

Fifth graders will be ending their verb unit this week. There will be a test on Thursday, tentatively. Students should be working on their study guides on Tuesday, and will play a review game on Wednesday. Friday, the fifth graders will start their pronouns unit.

The sixth graders are moving along faster than expected! Since they have done so well at their review packet, their final pronoun quiz will be on Thursday. To study for this quiz, students need to review the packet and ask questions in class today during review.

6th grade will be reviewing pronouns and working on their basic language arts skills through D.O.L. On Friday, students will have a D.O.L. quiz and pronoun quiz. Homework for this week will be:

Thursday- review pronoun notes for quiz.

Fifth grade students will be working on verb tense activities all week. They also practice their spelling words from last week and have their final test on Friday*. Other assignments include:

Monday- NO SCHOOL!
Tuesday- Finish Rule #8 activities and practice spelling words.
Wednesday- Puzzle in the Past worksheet and practice spelling words.
Thursday- Rule #10 activities and practice spelling words.
Friday- Verbs: Irregular (page 55).

* 5B will be taking their spelling test on Thursday because of the Radon Assembly and Nursing Home visit.
